Cracking the Codes on MASD
In 2019, a 3-member WOCN Society supported Task Force was charged with proposing additional ICD 10 CM codes to the CDC and to CMS for improved data capture for moisture associated conditions. The proposed new ICD 10 CM codes were approved and became effective on 10/1/2021. Attend this session to hear about the coding changes and to understand their relevance to both providers and non providers.
Objectives:
Explain the benefits of a change in ICD codes.
Verbalize the process for new code implementation.

“When Minutes Count”: Recognizing Emergency Dermatology Situations
There are instances in dermatology when “Time is of the Essence”. In this presentation we will discuss the difference between a simple drug eruption and the more serious or complex reactions with life-threatenng consequences. We will explain how to recognize when cellulitis is really Necrotizing Fasciitis and when Mycoplasma mucositis can be mistaken for SJS/TEN. The first step in preventing disastrous outcomes is early recognition followed by important diagnostics and proper and immediate consultation.
Objectives:
More cognizant of conditions that can deteriorate rapidly into life-threatening situations.
Able to recognize cutaneous findings that may signal an underlying disease.
Capable of ordering appropriate diagnostic tests and initiating withdrawal of offending pharmacotherapeutics and use of medications to treat reactions. (RX)
Able to initiate most important consultations.
